Speaking to Israel Radio on Thursday, Defense Minister Ehud Barak commented on statements made by a senior IDF officer in the northern command regarding rising tensions in the north.
Barak explained that at present, there are no “concrete” threats, quickly adding there are always reasons that compel Israel to carefully monitor the northern border, as it does the southern border to Hamas.
Barak discarded recent media reports of imminent hostility across the border to Lebanon, explaining that it is indeed true that in the Middle East a hostile situation can erupt immediately, but at present, there is no reason to believe there is an imminent threat of warfare.
