Seeking to limit the number of lawsuits filed against IDF soldiers and officers from Operation Cast Lead, the Foreign Ministry is distributing information sheets that state the IDF is investigating 100 incidents of alleged violations by troops who took part in the counter-terror offensive in Hamas-controlled Gaza.
The information fact sheet states the investigations are being carried out by the IDF Judge Advocate General’s office, adding he is bound to report to civilian agencies in this case, including Attorney General Menachem Mazuz and there will also be High Court intervention.
The document also explains Israel was compelled to launch the offensive to bring a halt to the rocket attacks from Gaza into the country’s southern population centers.
