According to the head of the IDF’s military intelligence research division, Brigadier-General Yossi Beiditz, from the beginning of 2010, Iran will be capable of building a nuclear bomb and doing so will only be a matter of decision, nothing more. Tehran will have overcome the logistical and other issues, and will possess the components to move ahead upon will. Beiditz made his remarks in a briefing to members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee.
Beiditz explained that as far as the international community is concerned, a nuclear Iran is a fait accompli, and this Israel may not accept. He added that Iran is willing to enter into dialogue regarding many issues, but not what Tehran perceives as its right to move ahead with its nuclear program, which it insists is for peaceful means.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak stressed that time if running out and the international community must impose stricter sanctions, adding Israel continues to monitor the situation and Jerusalem is not ruling out any options.
