IDF soldier Uriel Peretz Liwerant z”l, 21, a resident of Efrat, has been identified as the soldier killed in a tank training mishap. The tragic fatal accident occurred during the predawn hours today, Wednesday. It comes three weeks after he completed his tank commander course and was taking part in training operations for new commanders.
Uriel is survived by his parents, former Americans living in Efrat, Joannie and Aaron and three sisters. He was a hesder soldier. Funeral arrangements to be announced. The parents were in the United States when informed of the tragedy.
The IDF is investigating the incident in which three other soldiers were lightly injured. They were operating a Merkava 3 tank.
