Authorities found six sifrei torah that were stolen from the Ohr HaChayim Shul in the Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood of Yerushalayim. The sifrei torah were found in an Arab vehicle at the Hizme Checkpoint on a northern border of the capital.
The sifrei torah were returned to the custody of the shul gabbai in a ceremony in the Jerusalem police Russian Compound on Monday morning in the presence of Kosel Rav Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz Shlita, Jerusalem Police Rav Eliyahu Mugrabi, Jerusalem Police Chief Ilan Franco and tens of others.
Shul gabbai R’ Harush thanked Israel Police and the tzibur for working towards recovering the seforim, and above all he thanked HaKadosh Baruch Hu.
Harush reports that they were contacted about a month ago, leading them to work with police leading to the apprehension of the suspects. He stated the thieves were Arab, not Jews Baruch Hashem. Police report the thief is a resident of the eastern capital.
