It was motzei shabbos in the upscale community of Moshav Batzra in the Sharon area, a night that ended in horror, an act that shocked the nation. 33-year-old Assaf Goldring entered the bedroom of his only child, 3-year-old Noa, placing his hands around her neck, choking her to death.
The story began on Friday when Noa came to her father’s home for the weekend, as per the divorce agreement. At some point, Assaf’s father David telephoned and asked if he can come over and visit his granddaughter. He told authorities that Assaf sounded “confused” and he was “stuttering” realizing something was not right.
He arrived and was horrified to see Assaf holding a knife, trying to slash his wrists. David reports it appeared his son was on drugs. Mr. Goldring did not hesitate and he wrestled the knife away from his son. What he soon learned r”l was the real horror awaited him in the other room, where the lifeless body of his granddaughter was found in her bed. Mr. Goldring immediately summoned assistance, shouting “hurry hurry” at the arriving police.
Arriving paramedics began CPR but soon realized it was too late, and the blonde hair-blue-eyed Noa would never smile again, never returning to life.
Police report finding a letter in which Assaf laments the divorce and the parting of ways with the “love of his life” adding he fears how he will be able to cope and continue.
Assaf and Liza Goldring were married for four years, only apart about a month, police report. Mr. Goldring explained that since apart, his son appeared “very depressed” and he was taking anti-depressants. Another son, Yoav, a Tel Aviv councilman reports Assaf is politically active, finding a place in the media for being among those signing a petition refusing to serve in “occupied areas,” referring to Yehuda and Shomron. The elder Goldrings were not available for comment, locked in their homes following the tragic incident involving their first grandchild.
Assaf was admitted to Assaf HaRofeh Hospital and he was also treated for an intentional overdose of pills. He is under suicide watch. Since arriving at the hospital, he tried taking his life by jumping out of a window. He is now medically sedated.
The bereaved mother, Liza, is opposing an autopsy but police are insisting they must have a pathological report. The matter is likely to be brought before a court.
Senior police investigators involved in the case report on Sunday morning that the father appears to have planned the murder in advance, prior to her arrival for Shabbos.

let the riots begin.
a real horror story. baruch dayan emmes.
baruch dayan haemes, when are these tzaros in klal yisroel going to end???
Note that the Israeli press failed to discuss the person’s religious views, political affiliations, etc. Perhaps it is because criminal activity by hilonim in upscale communities is considered so normal as to not be newsworthy?
How come it doeas not highlight in the presses “SECULAR MAN KILSS 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER” ???
baruch dayan emmes
It seems that there are always tzaros during the 3 weeks but usually they are in the form of accidents. This year it seems to be things we are doing to ourselves.
We need Moshiach to give us clarity.
bd”e those people do not riot to protect a criminal
BD”E, why is he in hospital and not in the ramla prison with the worst of arab murderers? this secular jew actually killed his daughter much worse than the frum mother (media reportedly) did.
I think that stories like this do not belong on this site. If we (YWN visitors) wanted to hear every sick story coming out of Israel, we would be visit Yediot or something like that. Your attitude in reporting happenings in Yerushalyim, regurgitating secular media, and the hashkafot of a your writer, has already inspired me to remove you from my toolbar. Now I am finished with YWN. I used to be an avid reader when your news focused on the Yeshiva World. I believe you have strayed from the path that you originally set for yourself and I am looking for a better news source. You should be zoche to make a nachas ruach for the borai olam.
Avid reader, nothing wrong to post this. it just proves how the israeli so called authorities treat charedi warm moms and secular cold blooded dads….
I agree with #10 that this news item does not belong on YW. Besides that, I would like to protest about the way this article is written. Sentences like “Noa would never smile again” are written in a sentimental style which might be necessary for secular public in order to make it sound even more tragic, but we don’t need that. It is not the first time your valued reporter has written in that style, and it annoys me every time again.
# 10 and 12 are absolutely correct.
Amazing he was declared a sick man but was not arrested just taken to a hospital, but the mother who was declared sick was arrested not taken to a hospital, do you smell something, yes I do.
well first i agreed with 10 and 12 but then read 13 and 15. i have come to a conclusion that this could have been written better but we did need to hear from ywn commentators how this contrasts with the way the media handled the chareidi case and yes i read about this tragedy here first.
It’s amazing to read these comments during the 9 days. Who paskened for you that sinas chinum only applies to frum jews? The reason he was put in a hospital and not her is because he is a threat to himself while she supposedly is only a threat to her kids. You just have to remove her from her kids. Stop adding fuel to the fire of the burning Bais Hamikdosh!
10 and 12 are you thinking clearly? That’s what “news” is by definition We are lucky to have YWN because every secular news organization insinuates lies between the lines. I can give you their major transactions a different time. Especially when they talk about Israel,or;Jews.
