Egypt Continues to Blame Israel for Failed Shalit Deal

Israel’s chief broker in talks with Hamas, Egypt, continues to blame Israel for the failure in reaching a prisoner release agreement for the return of Gilad Shalit.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit told the London-based Arabic al-Hayat that reports are true, that Israel’s refusal to bend has resulted in a freeze in the talks, with Israel hold firm in her position to exile terrorists, a demand that Hamas refuses to accept. Israeli is unwilling to permit all the terrorists to return to  their homes in PA autonomous areas in Yehuda and Shomron, and insists they are sent to Gaza or elsewhere.

The senior Egyptian official calls Israel’s demand “inhumane and immoral”. In an almost comical move, Egypt has assured Israel that the terrorists released in a Shalit deal will not engage in hostile acts against Israel following their release. Statistics of the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) have shown many many of the released terrorists do indeed resume their hateful acts despite signing affidavits committing to distance themselves from their former lives of terror.
