Realizing it lacked a majority for the vote, the coalition on Wednesday decided to call off the planned vote on the Israel Lands Administration reforms, resulting in quite the humiliation for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The prime minister later announced that any cabinet minister or deputy minister who does not vote in favor of the reform bill will be ousted from his position.
Further adding to the prime minister’s embarrassment was the response, the round of applause heard in the plenum when Speaker Reuven Rivlin announced the bill was not coming up for a vote. The bill is likely to be voted upon next week.
