Minister of National Infrastructure (Yisrael Beitenu) Dr. Uzi Landau has refused to meet with Arab MK (Ra’am-Ta’al) Talab al-Sana who represents the Bedouin community. Dr. Landau explains that until such time al-Sana publically condemns Hamas terror, he does not view him as a significant representative of the Arab or Bedouin community and he refuses to meet with him.
Landau told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Wednesday morning that as the buses were blowing up in the early 2000s, he called to al-Sana to call to his community to condemn the terror attacks and he refused.
Al-Sana sent a letter to Landau seeking a meeting to discuss Arab community issues, particularly matters pertaining to the Bedouins, reporting the minister refused. Landau added most members of the Arab and Bedouin community do not support the terror and members of his staff would be happy to meet with them.
Al-Sana stated that he sent two letters, adding he is serving in Knesset since 1992, and he has never encountered a minister refusing to meet with him. He added even ministers who do not see eye-to-eye with him politically have agreed to meet.
Al-Sana labeled Landau a racist, stating one cannot expect different behavior from someone aligned with Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s party.
Al-Sana has turned to Knesset Speaker Rivlin and the Knesset Ethics Committee.
