Hadassah Hospital is already beginning to feel the crunch of the chareidi boycott, the daily Yediot Achronot reports. Hospital officials report a noticeable decline in the number of chareidim coming to the hospital, and Hadassah fundraisers fear the boycott may spread to chareidi philanthropists.
Magen David Adom emergency medical service personnel confirm that in recent days, chareidi patients have requested not to be transported to Hadassah, in line with the YWN report pertaining to a young trauma patient.
Hadassah officials also report that “chareidi activists” are working to persuade women in labor to diver to other hospitals, to avoid Hadassah.
During the meeting earlier in the week between Hadassah officials Prof. Shlomo Mor-Yosef, Dr. Yair Birnbaum and Eida GAVAAD Rabbi Yitzchak Tuvia Weiss Shlita, the senior administrators told the rav they acted as they are compelled to as physicians, offering to show the rav the video footage of the mother removing the nasogastric feeding tube from her son, but Rav Weiss refused.
Hospital officials explain the 44-minute film the child is seen shouting as a result of pain, adding “the content is most disturbing”.
The hospital reports the child’s condition has improved significantly, but they are now considering a possible skin graft surgery in his abdominal area.

Wait, why did the Rav not look at the footage?
Of *course* he refused. Why would he want to see any evidence that his people are in fact not being persecuted by these doctors. Who needs proof when you already know that you’re right!

There are other well staffed hospitals in Yerushalayim. We have had 12 children delivered in other hospitals. We have had operations by skilled surgeons in other hospitals. Hadassah is not the only hospital in the world.
INsanity. Once upon a time I used to get upset at all of the bad things I would read about the frum in places like Jewish Weak and my reaction was – what do you expect from sonei yisroel.
Now I see that unfortunately much of the frei criticism is warranted.
The frum world at least in Israel is sick and getting sicker.
WHy couldn’t the Ga’avah see the video?
Does he have an aversion to seeing something that may make him think and even chlolila change his mind?
Shame.
Is the only evidence they have a video of her removing the tube?
That hardly shows a pattern of abuse.
This child has been hospitalized for months. How is it that the child was ‘abused’ while under their care?
Being that it is not clear whether the hospital or the mother is the guilty party, it’s going to look very embarrassing to the frum community if it turns out that the hospital was justified in protecting the child from his mother. I think that people were wrong to jump to conclusions on who’s the innocent party. (Although as Rav Sternbach, shlita says that even if the hospital was correct, throwing a mentally ill person into jail is not the correct response.)

This is only 1 side of the story here is the other side.
Thehospital officials came to rav wiess and told him they want to show him the video now. Rav wiess told them that wants to bring an expert to see the video if it is original or docterd. He told them he can have him here in less then an hour. Then they respondet if he brings an expert then not before a week. Then he said does days are over, and I dont want to see it.

The way people are putting down R’ Weiss is abominable. He is one of the biggest Gedolim of todays generation. Whether he is associated with the Agudah,Brisk or the Eidah does not make a difference. Why do people take the hospital’s version as fact before they hear R’ Weiss’s version? Then when they hear a version which backs the Gaavad they need proof. Please show our Gedolim the respect they deserve. If you can’t show respect, at least don’t put them down.

wake up- in year 2009 it takes almost nothing to make up a whole video- with all graphics we have today.. why only now do they have the video? they worked past few days to create it… I don’t doubt in this for a second. Today’s day a video means absolutely NOTHING>….
