Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz were on hand on Monday for the opening of the northern section of Highway 6, known as Kvish 6 or the Yitzchak Rabin Highway. The new section travels from Wadi I’ron (Route 65) to Ein Toot (Route 70).
The prime minister stated ‘bringing the periphery closer” is not just a slogan, but it is happening today and now, stating the roadwork would continue until the highway continues until Kiryat Shmona, with interchanges the entire way permitting access to different areas of the country. “We are connecting the Galil to the center” he exclaimed in his remarks during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
With the new section operating, Highway 6 is now 140 kilometers (84 miles) from north to south.
