A passenger on board El Al flight LY 007 from Tel Aviv to NYC last Thursday (July 15th) was delayed in takeoff due to an agitated passenger who tried opening one of the doors, a reaction to an apparent anxiety attack.
Passengers and flight crew explain a large American male began “going crazy” and one passenger assisted by airline personal did manage to eventually subdue him. The plane, which was in a takeoff pattern, was ordered back and police were summoned. It appears the passenger suffers from claustrophobia and was having a major anxiety attack.
The flight was delayed for about 2.5 hours, taking off without the agitated passenger.
