A Bedouin man in his 30s was seriously injured on Monday as a result of entering an IDF firing range area in the Negev together with to other people, apparently in search of metallic objects to sell for scrap. At the time, tanks were engaged in a training exercise.

They were detected by an officer and others, who feared they may be terrorists. They were ordered to halt, but they fled and according to the report from military personnel, they tried running over the soldiers as they left the scene. Warning shots were fired at them, apparently resulting in their injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
