Israel Radio quoting a senior unnamed official in Egypt reported on Monday that Cairo is opposed to Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s selection for the new ambassador to Cairo, former IDF Colonel Shaul Kamisa.
The report quotes the Egyptians as saying an ambassador is intended to improve relations between countries, and a political appointment who is close to Lieberman, who maintains frosty relations with Egypt, will not exactly advance this concept.
Lieberman in response to criticism stated the appointment is subject to committee approval.
