Unfortunately, a 23-year-old Israeli female fell to her death in Peru. Rescuers were hopeful to find her alive, but Israel media reported on Monday morning that her body was recovered, confirming the family’s worst fears. Foreign Ministry officials contacted the family in Israel.

According to Israel Radio reports on Monday morning, rescuers were not optimistic concerning the plight of a 23-year-old Israeli hiker, who took a major fall into a ravine near Cusco, in southeast Peru. In Israel, Foreign Ministry officials report they are maintaining constant contact with the family at home, updating them constantly during the rescue effort.

Chabad shaliach to Peru Rabbi Ofir Kripor explained to the media that the tourists were traveling on a bus which stopped on the side of a road for a break. The young woman got out of the bus and apparently at some point, fell off the side into the ravine.
