Chomesh First officials announced on Wednesday afternoon that tonight’s planned levaya for the sifrei torah scheduled for tonight has been postponed, apparently due to information that hundreds of border police troops are being assigned to the event to prevent the kevura.
Chomesh First activists report they wish to prevent further disgrace to the seforim and have thereby decided to postpone the levaya.
Chomesh was among yishuvim in northern Shomron included in the 2005 expulsion, but Chomesh First activists have maintained almost a steady presence. Last week, leaving for a number of days, they returned to the painful sight, realizing area Arabs had burned the shul and destroyed sifrei torah and other seforim.
