3:05PM EST: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued by the National Weather Service for numerous counties in the tri-state, including all five boroughs of New York City, until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means that strong thunderstorms capable of producing winds of 58 mph or higher and/or hail 3/4 inches in diameter or larger are possible.

Meanwhile, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were also issued for several counties in northern New York, central New Jersey, and southern Connecticut.
