The good news is that PA (Palestinian Authority) cops retrieved the vehicle of former Israel Police Southern Commander Uri Bar-Lev, which was stolen from his home over the weekend. The bad news, his handgun and laptop were gone. The vehicle was recovered in Tulkarem on Monday night, and PA security officials turned it over to the IDF.
The vehicle’s battery was also gone, mirrors smashed and there was other damage, which was not detailed.
After the vehicle was located, it was first checked by bomb-demolition technicians to ensure it was not booby-trapped. IDF officials praise the work of PA security forces, adding that since the beginning of the year, 331 vehicles were recovered and returned. The report does not state that thousands of others are never recovered, lost in PA autonomous areas.
Police now report they believe the thieves who entered the senior commander’s home used a chemical agent which explains why no one was awakened during the robbery.
