Livni: 100 Days and the Public is Hopeless

Marking 100 days since taking office, opposition leader MK Tzipi Livni on Monday launched a sharp verbal attack on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his administration.

Addressing the Knesset plenum, explaining Kadima’s no-confidence vote, she spoke of the citizens of Israel, whom she insists have lost hope as a result of the current leadership.

“The accomplishments of the prime minister are in areas that contradict all of his promises if not the height of chutzpah… Mr. Netanyahu does not believe in the two-state solution, but it is the correct thing to say… this government will do anything to remain in office… Israel cannot afford a government concerned with remaining in power, without a vision or plan for the future”.

Noticeable was the fact that when she stepped down from the podium heading back to her seat, Livni was met by Shaul Mofaz, who shook her hand. For the past weeks, Mofaz, who recently announced his candidacy for the party’s top slot, has distanced himself from Livni.

Responding to her remarks was the Likud Minister Gilad Erdan who said, “Livni s the same politician who always speaks of her policies which she has yet to reveal. She assisted Ariel Sharon to uproot Jews from their homes in direct contradiction to their campaign promises”.

Kadima’s no-confidence motion was defeated in a 58-38 vote.
