An armed IDF reservist took a wrong turn on Shabbos and entered PA-occupied Yericho. He was arrested by PA security troops and turned over to IDF officials without incident.

It appears the recent removal of a checkpoint in the area enabled the soldier to lose his way as he tried to find the IDF liaison office in the area. The checkpoint was removed by order of Defense Minister Ehud Barak, part of the new policy to reduce restrictions on PA residents in compliance with White House demands to do so.
