With the start of summer vacation today, Wednesday, bus companies are launching nighttime bus lines until 03:30 to permit youths to return home safely during the late hours.

While the program is deemed objectionable to many, who feel this encourage unacceptable behavior, many parents, police and other agencies are pleased, explaining it provides youths with safe transportation home during hours of the night where there is no other alternative, thereby preventing many undesirable situations.
The nighttime lines are operating in Jerusalem, Ramat Gan, Haifa, Gush Dan and the Krayot.

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz stated “If we prevent one drunk driver from being on the road the program is worthwhile”.
