On Thursday, the fate of two former ministers will be announced as the courts release their verdict in the respective cases.
Former Shas minister Shlomo Benizri and HaGaon Rav Reuven Elbaz will hear the ruling in their appeal, as well as the state’s appeal seeking a harsher prison sentence in the fraud bribery case. Both Benizri and Rav Elbaz appealed their sentences following their convictions in a lower court while the state feels he should receive a harsher prison term.
Simultaneously, in the Tel Aviv District Court, the verdict against former finance minister, Avraham Hirschson of Kadima is expected to be announced. He too was found guilty of fraud and bribery charges related to his tenure in the Histadrut National Labor Federation.
