Tragedy on the Way Home from a Chasnah [UPDATED IN ARTICLE]

04.jpg[PHOTO LINK BELOW] The first reports of the fatal accident came in at about 1:00am, reporting the location on Route 444, near Rantis Junction, in the area of Elad. There were reports of “several injured” in the collision between a private vehicle and a fire truck.

First responders did not take too long to ascertain the extent of the tragedy, a family that was returning from a family chasnah. Hatzolah volunteers immediately began CPR on the gravely injured father, but ultimately, it was understood that it was not meant to be and a MDA physician from the Yarkon district on the scene pronounced him dead, just a few short hours after he was dancing at the chasnah of a son.

Four children, family of the bride, were injured, with two listed in serious condition on Monday morning and the others moderate. They are in Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer in Tel Aviv and Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah.

Officials report that preliminary accident investigation data indicates the impact of the private car was not head-on, but striking the side of the truck. Other reports state head-on. This will most likely be cleared up during Monday as investigators continue on the scene.

It is also being reported that earlier in the night, responders were dispatched to a serious accident at the very same area, but the event was unfounded. One of the fire trucks that responded was the very same truck involved in the accident mentioned in this report.

Elad social services and municipality leaders dealt with family notifications and other arrangements necessary as a result of the tragedy. Members of the families of the choson and kalah were notified.

YWN will try to ascertain the names of the children for tehillim.
