Ushers were compelled to forcibly remove Kadima MKs from a Knesset committee session as they escalated their protest by beginning to sing, ignoring all calls from the committee chair to stop. At some point, the chairman ordered the rebellious MKs removed.
MKs Otniel Schneller, Yoel Sasson and Nachman Shai, all of Kadima, began singing, refusing to stop, obviously intending to disrupt the session. Earlier in the week, opposition MKs walked out of the plenum session in protest, insisting the current coalition is endangering the democratic fibers of the state.
Adding his slant to the protest, opposition MK Dr. Ahmed Tibi stated he objects to the song, a patriotic Israeli one, calling to sing Biladi, the PA national anthem.
Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office report on Friday morning that a planned meeting between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Opposition leader Tzipi Livni scheduled for the morning was postponed. This marks the third time the two were scheduled to meet in an effort to iron out difference but all the meetings were postponed.
