MK (Yahadut HaTorah) Moshe Gafne, who also chairs the Knesset Finance Committee, is calling on the government to sell off property, including the Port of Jaffe, Tzrifin and S’dei Dov Airport as a means of generating sizable capital without imposing new taxes on the citizens, many of whom already unable to feed their families and pay basic monthly expenses.
Gafne recently met with President Shimon Peres to pose the idea, stating, “There are large areas of land that are simply full of roaches. Instead of selling them, we seek new taxes to impose on the nation”. Gafne added that he is aware there is a Jewish millionaire who is seriously interested in buying Tzrifin but the bureaucracy is preventing the transaction from moving ahead.
