The global economic situation has impacted many Jewish communities around the world, including Bnei Brak. Mayor R’ Yaakov Asher is leaving Eretz Yisrael on Sunday, traveling to N. America where he hopes fundraising efforts including a dinner will generate badly needed funds for the chareidi city.

He is hoping to meet with many prominent members and leaders of the NYC chareidi community, seeking to raise funds for  a number of projects in Bnei Brak including extended daycare center hours and courses to enable residents to retrain to join the workforce.
