European Union Foreign Minister Javier Solana met with a Hizbullah MP in Lebanon. The Saturday meeting was part of the senior EU official’s visit to Lebanon to show the European community’s continued support for Lebanon.

Solana met with Hussein Hajj Hassan, who holds one of Hizbullah’s 11 seats in the 128-seat Lebanese parliament. Solana also met with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, using the opportunity to reemphasize the EU’s commitment to Lebanon, praising last week’s general election, stating it furthers a stable democratic society.
