The Justice Ministry’s Police Investigations Unit has completed its job and 47 criminal indictments are filed as a result. Most of the indictments were handed down against policemen or former policemen who presented fictitious rabbinical ordination certificates towards earning themselves a higher salary. In some cases, the defendants are accused to illegally obtaining NIS thousands and tens of thousands as a result of the forged certificates.
The organization representing wives of policemen released a statement they plan to fight the indictments, insisting their extra money earned by their husbands was legally approved and there is no basis for the criminal actions against them.
