In last week’s election to the committee of Knesset parliamentary aides, there were no chareidim elected to the forum as was the case in previous years, the daily HaMevaser reports.
Shuki Zohar, who works with Bayit HaYehudi MK Zevulun Orlev, was elected as the chairman of the forum representing parliamentary aides. The election is held with each new Knesset, and the aides, with the exception of aides to ministers and deputy ministers, are included in the forum, permitted to be elected and run for a post. There are 160 aides for 80 MKs (not ministers and deputy ministers) and the forum is a lobby to protect the interests and rights of aides.
The body is governed by a five-member vaad and one chairmen, and the 120 aides taking part in the vote each cast two ballots, for vaad member and chairperson.
Yitzchak Lev-Ari, who works with Shas MK Avraham Michaeli will act as the committee’s spokesperson.
