Today, Tuesday, Turning Point 3, the nationwide defense preparedness exercise moves into the citizen-involvement phase.
At 11:00am, air raid sirens will sound nationwide, for 90 seconds, in an increasing and decreasing wailing tone. The Homefront Command urges anyone who does not hear the siren in his/her area to call *1207 and notify them.
Israelis are urged to enter safe rooms and shelters upon hearing the sirens, with Homefront Command officials stipulating that in cases such actions will cause undue difficulties, people may continue their routine.
The deaf and hearing impaired communities are instructed to leave home with their beepers, so they too may be alerted to the air raid sirens.
