Assaf Ramon, the eldest son of Israel’s first astronaut, Colonel Ilan Ramon z”l is about to complete IAF pilot’s training.

Only 16 at the time of his father’s death, in the explosion on the Columbia space shuttle, Assaf told the media he wished to carry on his father’s work and as such, hoped one day to become an IAF fighter pilot.

IAF officials report the young cadet is viewed as among the outstanding members of the program. He recently made the news when compelled to handle a malfunction during a training flight.
