A special Knesset session will be held in memory of the late leader of Degel HaTorah, Rav Avraham Ravitz Z”L.
In line with a new law calling for a memorial session for a MK who dies in office, a session will be held tomorrow for Rav Ravitz z”l, Monday, 2 Sivan. It is explained that since his petira was relatively close to elections the special session was delayed until the early days of the current 18th Knesset. A request was then made to delay the special session until Reuven Rivlin was officially appointed Knesset speaker, explaining the delay.
Speakers in the special session will include Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who visited Rav Ravitz shortly before his petira, opposition leader MK Tzipi Livni, Knesset Speaker Rivlin, Degel HaTorah leader MK Gafne, Shas leader Minister Yishai, and Meretz leader and friend of Rav Ravitz, Chaim Oron.
The entire Ravitz family has been invited to attend along with members of Degel HaTorah and friends of the late MK. He was niftar four months ago on 1 Shvat.
