Thursday Morning News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


The Homefront Command on Thursday morning will be testing air raid sirens in Hod HaSharon, Jaljulya Kfar Sava, & Kfar Bara as part of the ongoing nationwide preparedness program.

**A 5-month-old infant is in isolation in Laniado Hospital in Netanya after exhibiting signs of swine flue. A 39-year-old male who recently returned from the United States was also placed in isolation, in Haifa’s Bnei Tzion Hospital.

**Psychological trauma centers in the Greater Sderot area are being closed down by the government. To date, over 5,000 people have signed a petition fighting to keep them open as Sderot was hit by rockets just this week.

**Peace Now reports the removal of Maoz Esther on Thursday by the government was “not serious” and just a “publicity stunt”.

**Several dozen Arab residents protested at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem on Thursday morning against discrimination and human rights violations. They waved PLO flags.

**Security forces prevented a stabbing attack at Birzeit Jct. on Thursday morning. An Arab woman carrying a knife was taken into custody.

**7 IDF soldiers were lightly injured in a Jordan Valley tank training exercise.
