Defense Minister Matan Vilnai, who is overseeing next month’s unprecedented nationwide preparedness exercises, has been working to prepare cabinet ministers as well.
The ministers will be compelled to respond to the simulated emergency situation as well and they will have to respond to their respective safe command centers, convene the cabinet and each ministry will have to make the necessary wartime decisions. This is part of the lessons learned from the Second Lebanon War, when ministers were far from the decision-making process and for the most part, left in the dark as to the day-to-day operations.
Ministers are being prepared to meet the challenges of operating under attack towards making decisive calls during times of national emergency.
