Tuesday Afternoon News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


An IDF Civil Administration officer and a border police officer were injured in a scuffle in Gilad Farm outpost in northern Shomron on Tuesday. IDF officials report Arabs and left-wing supporters threw stones at them as they tried intervening into a conflict between Jews and local Arabs, who Jews stated were throwing rocks. The Arabs reported they were assaulted by the outpost residents. Baruch Hashem there injuries were reported to be very light.
 
**A 15-year-old boy admitted to Carmiel Hospital in Haifa is not infected with swine flu as feared.
 
**Wednesday, 26 Iyar, is the 64th yahrzeit of Reb Shmulka M’Zvill ZT”L ZY”A, who was niftar in Eretz Yisrael. Thousands are expected to visit his kever on Tuesday night and Wednesday, located in Har HaZeisim.
 
**Egyptian officials report a 12-year-old nephew of President Hosni Mubarak has died. He took ill a number of days ago and was flown to France. Israel Radio states Egyptian officials are not ruling out a fatal poisoning as the cause of death.
 
**An Israeli motorist escaped injuries in a Tuesday afternoon rock attack near Chevron. Baruch Hashem no injuries were reported. The vehicle was damaged however.
 
**Lebanon announced the arrest of five people accused of spying for Israel bringing the number of suspected Israeli spies arrested in recent weeks to 18.
