In all likelihood, there is not an increase in abrasive and offensive incidents involving Egged bus drivers, but it does appear commuters have decided to fight back.
The latest case pertains to a situation that occurred on a 277 bus traveling from Jerusalem to Elad. A passenger requested the driver lower the radio, but the request was ignored. A second request was met with unacceptable hand gestures. The passenger filed a complaint with the Ministry of Transportation.
The ministry decided to file charges against the court and the traffic court heard the case, and fined the driver and Egged NIS 17,400, which included a NIS 15,000 fine to Egged, a fine to the driver and compensation to the passenger.
Justice Tannenbaum reported that the law compels the driver to lower a radio if passengers complain it is too loud. “This is the law, not an act of kindness” the court explained.

great idea i think i”m doing it today.
That isn’t Egged.
It is Egged-Taavura, which is completely separate company.
It is a joint venture between Egged and Taavura, both of which own 50%, I think. You can read this on Egged-Taavura’s website and on Wikipedia (where I wrote it, IIRC).
Please do get the facts right!
#2 what difference does it make if its Egged or Egged-Taavura?
