The Givati Brigade memorial situated between Kibbutz Negba and Moshav Shapir was targeted by vandals who spray painted Arabic graffiti on it. The memorial is dedicated to Givati soldiers who fell in the war of independence, fighting Egyptian troops who crossed into southern Israel. The vandal attack was detected by a passerby, who reported it to authorities.
 
Moshe Rom, who is in charge of tourism in the Sapir Council filed a formal complaint with police.
