During talks to reach agreement on a coalition government, Hamas and Fatah officials on Sunday agreed to the establishment of a joint security force in Gaza until the January 2010 elections. According to the Egyptian MENA news agency, the Egyptian-mediated talks led to the agreement in the fifth session, held on Sunday (May 17th).
In another seven weeks, five committees comprised of Hamas and Fatah representatives will convene to examine preparations for elections and other issues of common interest, including a coalition government. Other “factions”, referring to terror organizations, will also be involved in the hope of reaching an agreement that is respected and adhered to by everyone.
