A round of Egyptian-mediated talks between Hamas and Fatah were held in Egypt on Friday. This was the fifth such meeting, which are being overseen by Egyptian Security Chief General Omar Suleiman.
Reports are pointing to a possibility that Hamas will accept a compromise put on the table by Suleiman, stating talks would continue, but for now, Hamas will not take part in the new government in Ramallah and this new government would be a transition body only, to be replaced when agreement is reached for the establishment of a coalition government to include Fatah and Hamas.
