Yom Yerushalayim Events on Thursday

A Yom Yerushalayim event will take place on Thursday, (27 Iyar, Erev Yom Yerushalayim – May 21st) including the annual Flag Parade in the capital. Coinciding with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s trip to Washington, where he will be meeting with President Barak Obama, participants will also express their commitment to ‘Shleimus Haaretz’ (Greater Israel) and the significance of a undivided Jerusalem.

Participants will march from the Mashbir Plaza to the American Consulate on Agron Street, where the rally will be held. From there, they will march to the gates of the Old City, with organizers explaining police are not making it easy, seeking to limit entry from the Damascus Gate via the so-called Muslim Quarter.

Later Thursday night, the celebrated maariv service will take place in Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva in the presence of rabbonim and elected officials.

In Ir David, the Moskowitz Prize for Zionism will be awarded for the second consecutive year with this year’s emphasis placed on renewed settlement throughout Eretz Yisrael, the weekly B’Sheva newspaper reports.

This year’s recipients are Noam Arnon, longtime Chevron resident and community spokesman, Katzrin Mayor Sami Bar-Lev, a pioneer of the renewed settlement in the Golan Heights, and Ronit Shocker, who together with her late husband were pioneers in the Gush Shilo area and founders of the Meshek Achiya olive oil factory.
