Seemingly in preparation for next week’s meeting in the White House, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is quoted as having promised senior American officials Israel will not launch a surprise attack on Iran.
According to radio reports, the prime minister in meetings with CIA Chief Leon Panetta promised an offensive against Iran will not be launched by Israel without first making notification to the United States.
The CIA commander was in Israel a number of weeks ago, and held secret talks with the prime minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak. The meetings surrounded the Iranian nuclear concerns, but the prime minister apparently committed that Israel would not surprise America regarding a move against Iran.
