Shas officials are signaling they will oppose the state budget in Wednesday’s vote, unwilling to accept the cuts which they feel harshly impact lower income families.
 
While Finance Minister Dr. Yuval Shteinitz has indicated he will abolish the planned cuts in monthly child allowance payments, Shas demands an increase in the payments as was demanded when it agreed to join the coalition.
 
Party leader Minister Eli Yishai adds the announced planned levy of value added tax on fruits and vegetables is a violation of the coalition agreements signed and his party is unwilling to accept such a reality.
