Tuesday Afternoon News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


An IDF court on Tuesday extended the remand of three PA elected officials being held in prison. The remand of Mahmoud Abu Tir was moved from 42 months to 48, Mahmoud Khatib from 36 to 42, and Naïf Rajoub from 40 to 48 months.
 
**A female policeman sustained light-to-moderate injuries in a protest held by local government heads in Jerusalem on Tuesday.
 
**An Israeli motorist was targeted in an early Tuesday afternoon firebomb attack northwest of Ramallah. No injuries were reported.
 
**The treasury has agreed to increase the National Road Safety Authority annual budget for 2009 from NIS 330 million to NIS 446 million and in 2010, from NIS 330 million to NIS 410 million. Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz called for additional funds towards road improvements.
