Chief of Military Intelligence Major-General Amos Yadlin in a Tuesday briefing to the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee warned of Iran’s continued progress towards achieving nuclear independence, working to avoid the obstacles in its path. He warned that Iran is dangerously close to achieving its goal – the ability to build a nuclear weapon.
Yadlin explained that the Mideast is not atop of the agenda of US President Barak Obama, who is preoccupied with Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Iran, and only then, the Mideast conflict. He stated that current intelligence community assessments place the likelihood of war in 2009-2010 as low.
