Leaders of The Union of Local Authorities (ULA) announced on Sunday that they are ordering a two-hour local government strike on Wednesday (May 13) in protest of planned budgetary cuts in the state budget. The two-hour strike will begin at 8:00am, at which time schools, kindergartens and daycare centers will remain closed. Traffic signals will not operate properly and garbage collection will come to a halt.
The ULA head, Shlomo Buchbut, who is also the mayor of Maalot warns “this is just the beginning,” promising harsher sanctions and actions if the government is brazen enough to move ahead with the fiscal cuts being announced in the media.
