Once again, Betar Illit Mayor Rav Meir Rubinstein is compelled to renew efforts to push ahead scheduled construction, explaining in his letter that 919 housing units planned for construction have been delayed and these units will be occupied immediately due to the severe housing shortage.
In his letter, sent to Shas and Yahadut HaTorah officials, Rubinstein speaks of the “lack of motivation” of the previous administration to “expand the borders of Eretz Yisrael” seeking an explanation just why the defense minister has not been able to sign the required permits for the past two years. The buildings in question were authorized in 2003 by then Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, but Defense Minister Ehud Barak is holding up the start of building, resulting in undue hardships for many families and the community at large.
The mayor reminds the elected officials that Betar Illit was authorized by the late Yitzchak Rabin, who designated it to be 11,000 housing units, pointing out that today, it is only 7,000 strong. The mayor laments the fact that young couples who are compelled to live in makeshift apartments set up in storage rooms, in basements and with parents due to the critical nationwide housing shortage.
Rubinstein also addresses the economic side of the project, explaining that as soon as the minister authorizes the project, many many jobs will be found for construction sector workers and related fields, all benefiting from a project of this magnitude. This would include professionals such as architects, engineers, project managers, their support staffs and much more.

So we can see that Barak is multi-faceted! Not only can he be a disaster in the military sphere, he can be a disaster in the area of housing as well!!! This old political hack should be put away in a home for the chronically pathetic!
