The oppressive sharav heat-wave in Eretz Yisrael today, Monday, is being blamed for power outages in the Tel Aviv/Gush Dan area as well as for a number of fires.
 
50MPH wind gusts have downed electric lines in some areas, and have downed tree branches which have damaged power lines. The extremely dry air accompanied by strong winds have resulted in brush fires in Akko and other areas, as well as in Kfar Chabad as was reported by YWN Monday morning.
 
There is an air quality alert for the elderly and people suffering from respiratory and cardiac conditions. MDA emergency medical service officials call on residents to remain indoors if possible and to increase the intake of fluids, especially water.
