Battle Underway to Shut ‘Body Worlds’ Exhibit in Haifa

The controversial Body Worlds exhibition opened in Haifa’s National Museum of Science causing a stir among many of the city’s residents, including the chareidi population. The display exhibits 20 human bodies that were preserved by a special process, now making up the exhibit which travels the world.

Zaka director Yehuda Meshi-Zahav arrived in Haifa for opening day of the exhibit on Monday, expressing disgust over what he labeled “business with dead bodies,” a potent statement coming from the leader of an organization dedicated to respecting human remains. “I do not understand the connection between medical advancement and bodies posed as they are playing chess” he stated.

Haifa Councilman Rav Aryeh Blitental stated he is doing everything he can to have the exhibit removed.
