On Wednesday night, as Am Yisrael sits down to seder, Noam and Aviva Shalit will mark their third Seder with their son Gilad in Hamas captivity if chas v’sholom he is not released by then.
On Monday, NGOs working for Gilad’s release will march from Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square to Metzudat Ze’ev, Likud headquarters, carrying banners “we are waiting for Gilad” as they call on the new administration to place Shalit’s release atop the government agenda.
The NGOs also plan a Seder on Wednesday, opposite the Prime Minister’s Residence in Jerusalem. Family members are expected to take part. Invitations were sent out to all 120 MKs. The organizers plan to ask “Why is this night different.” Because on all nights the government says it is doing everything possible to bring Gilad home but tonight, we don’t believe it any longer.”
