Ofir Gamliel Permitted to Visit Injured Son

Ofir Gamliel, whose 7-year-old son Yair [ben Michal] sustained moderate injuries in Thursday’s axe terrorist attack in Bat Ayin, was permitted to visit his son.

Gamliel is a convicted member of the so-called Bat Ayin terror cell, having already served seven years of a 15-year sentence.

As is the case with other ideological prisoners, Israel Prison Authority officials continue to treat Gamliel harshly while the service is the champion of human rights and democracy when addressing the needs of Arab prisoners.

Gamliel on Friday refused to visit his son wearing prison garb and in handcuffs. Due to the intervention of the Hanunu Jewish prisoners’ rights organization, a compromise was reached. Ofir traveled to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital and was brought in wearing regular clothing and the handcuffs were removed prior to entering his son’s room.
